A Samaritans table will be set up in the museum to publicise the work that we do and to invite people to talk to us, or volunteer to help us, if they would like to. Unusually, we are sponsoring this special event with the Radio Society of Great Britain. Amateur Radio (Ham Radio) is still very popular, even in the age of the internet. A large bank of equipment will be set up, with experts on hand. They hope to have live tracking of the International Space Station, and to have communications with other radio enthusiast around the world. During the evening the presenter, Nicholas Wilkinson followed the development of the hobby over the years explaining that he had grown up with the hobby as his late father had been an active amateur. /////////////////////////////////////////// NASA Launches Mission to Save Earth from Space Weather: Posted: 02 Mar 2017 04:08 PM PST http://www.eham.net/articles/38743 National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is set to launch a mission that will send a robot to the sun in preparation for a "huge solar event" that is likely to cause havoc on Earth. The move aims to unveil the mysteries behind the massive hole in the heart. The Sun reports that the Solar Plus Probe is set to face heat and radiation that no other has endured as it comes within four million miles of the sun's surface. It is believed that the corona is cooler than the sun's atmosphere. "In order to unlock the mysteries of the corona, but also to protect a society that is increasingly dependent on technology from the threats of space weather, we will send Solar Probe Plus to touch the Sun," NASA said.
