Expert 1.3K is DXpedition "game changer"

This is one of three Expert 1.3K-FA Amps brought on the VP8STI/VP8SGI
DXpeditions.

Every once in a while a new piece of technology comes along that qualifies
for what I would call a game changer. The new Expert 1.3K-FA Amplifier with
tuner is certainly a game changer. This amplifier is small, light in weight
and quite powerful at 1,300 watts with as little as ten watts of drive
power. Yes, that is right, ten watts of drive will produce 1,300 watts or
more of output. Just an amazing little amplifier. At about 18lbs it can
easily be carried aboard an aircraft as a carry on item. It even comes with
a padded carry case for that very purpose.

The Intrepid-DX Group acquired three of these amplifiers for the recent
VP8STI/VP8SGI DXpedition. The amplifiers performed flawlessly and delivered
a consistent 1,300-1,400 watts. Their internal switching power supplies
performed very well even with regular voltage sags and generator shut
downs. This is one robust and versatile amplifier.



On the back side, you can see that it can accept two inputs and can provide
internal antenna switching for up to four antennas. We are very glad to
have had these amplifiers. I now own one of them and will use it in my
shack to replace a large/heavy tube amplifier.
