![]() Slow Code wrote: The History Of The Middle Finger It's an urban legend. No truth to it. The Brits wave *two* fingers, with the back of the hand towards the person insulted. Basically the "V for Victory" gesture reversed. Nobody who knows anything about archery pulls a bowstring with just the middle finger - they use two fingers. That 2 finger gesture was reportedly used at Agincourt, but didn't originate there. It reportedly derives from the practice that captured archers, if not immediately executed or sold into slavery, would have those two fingers cut off by the capturing enemy.
