Arnie, if you're going to offer this kind of "public service" you might want to update it once in a while. __________________________________________________ _________________________ Brian, I've updated my site twice a day for every day of the storm since it was a tropical depression. I decided to post it to this group because the storm was within the 24hr strike zone and the path error was down to about 30%. At that point, no great change in predicted direction or speed was going to take place. If you took the time to look at the date and time of my post and the date and time of the advisory, you would have noticed that it was issued at 5 am EDT and I posted it 30 minutes later. (I'd say that's pretty timely) The NHC only updates the storm about every seven hours, and even though I can download the data directly from the NHC computers at any time, they *only* update the map data and advisories that are *new*. That would have been around 11 AM (when I was at work) -- The storm hit land within that time period, then quickly returned to Tropical Storm status and the NHC advisories ended. At that point there wasn't a need to update it further. When the next tropical depression forms and is threatening to develop into a Tropical Storm, come back to my site and you will see these regular updates for the map and advisories about twice a day. Arnie - KT4ST Arnie, good grief. Leave it to the professionals. bb |
