No argument there. I hope that newcomers won't try to use their HT's like they do a cell phone, presses up against the ear. But when transmitting with an HT, the antenna IS right in front of the ham's forehead...unless one is using a separate microphone. And many HTs have power output above 5w In contrast, cellphones automatically adjust their power output as needed depending on signaling protocols between the cellphone and the cell site.
