Too bad he got the largest popular vote of any president ever, huh...???

Even loser Kerry got more popular votes than any previous president in history,
by a huge margin! So what?

The popular vote is meaningless, otherwise Al ("I invented the internet") Gore
would be President today.

Shrub took 2.4% more votes than his leading opponent. I'm not very
impressed --- it pales by comparison to the 18.2% trouncing that Ronnie Reagan
laid on Jimmy Carter in 1984.

In fact, ignoring his popular-vote loss in 2004, the 2.4% margin is the
narrowest win going back all the way to 1976 when Jimmy Carter won by a similar
narrow margin over Gerald Ford.

Too bad, indeed!

"""It's ridiculous to think that the lack of GPS is the greater upper
arm than
any other mechanism for our failure in the world. Above, you'll see
references to the US banking system, the US stock market, the US
workforce,
the US companies that degrade our capabilities by putting people out of
work. By the way, look at the lack of shortage for doctors, nurses,
scientists, teachers, etc., that is being quickly ignored right now.
THOSE--not GPS--are greater threats to our security from foreign
measures
and "forces." (Forces that don't wear uniforms)."""

What failure in the world???

People are still flocking to our country to find a better life. As a
matter of fact, the flocking is completely out of control. To be fair
though, I have heard of a couple of gay couples fleeing to Canada to
escape the "opression" in the USA. And you claim we have a shortage of
doctors, nurses, scientists, teachers, etc, but it is not being
ignored. Congress is constantly upping the legal immigration of those
listed careers and ENGINEERS. And we educate untold thousands of
foreigners each years so that they can return home and uplift their own
countries, but then they stay here.

Why is that if we're such a failure in the world?

And this UN approval stuff??? Where does -that- come from? You think
we need the approval of France or Syria? Good grief, you're watching
too much TV, I guess.

I agree that we've got some problems, but when haven't we?

I think our hugest problem is: Illegal immigration driving down wages.
Hell, legal immigration drives down wages, too. Our media is crying
that we need to raise the minimum wage to ~?~ 7.00/hour. Why? That's
a whopping $14, 560/year. Americans won't work for that little, as
they can do absolutely nothing and get that much in welfare, food
stamps, and medicaid. If they're even smarter, they've figured out how
to be disabled and draw benefits. But illegal Mexican labor would be
happy to take $7/hour. And that money goes to slum lords or it goes
back across the border. Shut off the illegal labor, and those jobs
will rise to $9 and $10/hour. That's when the American worker begins
to get interested, and a working couple can hit $40K a year. There are
even GI-bill like programs (without risking hide nor hair) that allows
them home ownership with $0.00 down.

As a side benefit to curbing illegal immigration is homeland security
threat reduction, but we all know that's bogus and no one can harm
America, right?

Anyhow, welcome back to the group.

Hans, you've made a declatory statement that reads exactly as I've
described it. If you've got a gripe with that, too bad. You've had
ample opportunity to explain yourself.

And the DoD earns nothing. It spends and provides the protection that
our citizens, domestic and foreign corporations, and legal and illegal
immigrants enjoy on a daily basis. The DoD performs one of the very
few legal functions of government spelled out in the Constitution. You
should complain about all of the other appropriated (tax) funds that
our government ****es away.

What's Jessie V. been doing lately? I'm sure that Minnisota had a good
reason for making him Governor, but the rest of the nations is still
guessing on that one.

The casino Indians hired him to do attack commercials on Schwarzenegger
and his stance on casino taxation in California.

I have no idea what he's doing. Last heard, he was out in California.

Funny you should bring him up though, because he shares a lot of traits
with Shrub.

Not overly bright, arrogant, smirks a lot, has a lackluster command of
the English language, prone to exageration of the facts (inventing some
as the need arises to advance his agenda), and pretty much the
laughingstock of his peers governing other states.

"Explain myself"?!?! My statement was simple and direct, requiring no
explanation. Regarding the news story about Shrub ordering up plans to shut
down GPS, I said this (no more, no less). "At first I thought it had to be an
April Fool joke, but apparently The Shrub really IS that stupid!"

You and "Avery" (not me) are the dufii who brought up cockeyed notions about
"mooching" and "freeloading" and "shut down GPS for a day each year".

You should complain about all of the other appropriated (tax)
funds that our government ****es away.

I didn't say the government was ****ing money away on GPS. In fact, we should
compliment them on money well spent, resulting in a broad range of benefits to
the taxpayers who paid for it.

Hans...You obviously did NOT read the story...or at least read it very
well....

The intention to shut the net down in advent of war or attack was on the
table in the EARLY 90's. That the President was reviewing that is nothing new.

Forget it, Jim....

Hans jumped at the opportunity to sling untrue epithets the Presidents
way, and no amount of facts will deter him from his quest for knighthood as Sir
Rantsalot.
