The "JPI" being the suffix of the license of one of the officials of the repeater club. Eventually the rogue transmitter was found in a wildlife preserve desert area. Battery operated transmitter coupled to an auto id board and a ground plane antenna hidden in some weeds. Hard to DF a transmitter that only fires up at random every few hours for a few seconds. Seems they never did figure out who done it.... |
