Woo Hoo, only WY left for WAS! I'm unfamiliar with that acronym, and Google is returning way too many hits for any permutation I can come up with. I'm assuming this means "Worked All States?" and you only have Wyoming to finish. Is this continental US only, or does one count Hawaii? I'm assuming that state is literal and does not include the various protectorates? In my case I guess I could look forward to "Worked All Provinces" though I have no idea if Canadian Amateurs have such a tradition. Hmmm, I'd like to include the territories, as well. Maybe the acronym is now WAP/T? WAP&T? WAPaT? I'm tempted to use the acronym WAPATI, which is a nice homage to the aboriginal place- and animal names found in the US and Canada. |

CL I did some work on 6 and 2 ssb when there were lots of active Techs, but it seems a lot slower now that they've been chased away. Who's "chased away" Techs from 6 and 2 meter SSB, Brian? The idea doesn't make sense on several levels. First and foremost is the fact that there's absolutely no evidence of anyone being chased anywhere. Secondly is that VHF contesters are no different than HF contesters...They need those "casual" contesters or participants in order to get thier scores up...No "motive" for them to chase anyone away. Thirdly, the manufacturers push VHF capable gear in order to make more profits. What would be thier motive to "chase away" anyone? Next is the ARRL and it's ancilliary branches such as ARES. They need Tech in order to "flesh out" ARES and other programs. QST is ripe with PRO-VHF operating...CQ Magazine even moreso with it's resurrection of "CQ VHF" magazine. So...Here we are again...Brian P Burke making yet another assinine anti-Amateur Radio assertion absolutely unsubstantiated by even a single paragraph of corroborating fact. And he says I have some undefined "emotional" problems. Go figure. Steve, K4YZ |

This was not contest time and virtually the whole US was coming in. On field day we had single hop to the North West -- made 50+ contacts. CL (Sporadically) |

I thought Stebie would go into some harangue about LICENSES!!! :-) One can't OPERATE a DEVICE without a LICENSE! etc. Stebie is all mixed up about "devices" and "nets" and "licenses." Tsk. Out of the amateur community he can't talk the talk, has to use poor analogues from his "ham experience." :-) Roughly speaking, there's about 100 MILLION cell phone subscriptions in the U.S. of A. today. That's like one in three citizens having one. Stebie might think the VEC ought to "examine" each and every one of those 100 MILLION cell service subscriptions? :-) Also, when you first made your assertion, I asked you if you meant Part 15, Part 95, etc, and you said "Yes, of course". So...Still waiting. Wait away. Tsk. Barracks Lawyer Stebie doesn't know moot court is in recess. :-) Stebie has years on the bench. He was once admitted to a bar. Thinks that makes him a Barracks Lawyer. Tsk. He isn't even a master debater. :-) "I believe that ARES will not be able to respond to future emergencies due to the greying demographic" is an opinion. "ARES is dependent upon graying old men who can't respond to emergencies" is an assertion. Are those your opinions? Tsk. The master debater is yanking off again. :-) Stebieworld is rife with tales of glory and heroism in the face of danger... :-) You made "statements of fact" that were nothing BUT opinion. You're the one jumping to conclusions, Steve. You expect everything that anyone says to be fact verified by Saint Hiram. In Stebieworld he meets with H.P.M. every day to Get Da Word from Da Man! If you no agree with Stebie, you are WRONG, you are a PUTZ, you will live in infamy, and not be allowed EVER to associate with the Elitist Extras! Steve, you're so full yourself. You make yourself into fool every time you start jumping up and down demanding proof and facts anytime something you don't like comes up. Too bad no one is taking you seriously, especially me. You make up stuff and keep making up stuff so you don't have to apologize for being such an ass. sayonara, bb Stebie is a Master Debater...by his own definitions, not that of rational human beings. Stebie MUST have CONTROL, MUST be in COMMAND, CANNOT tolerate ANY back-talk, and absolutely poselutely forevermore HAVE THE LAST WORD in everything. It's the MURINE WAY!!! grammophone in the corner up very loud on the bars of "from the halls of monty pye-athon to the shores of Tivoli..." Absolutely fascinating stuff. Stebie is so hot and heavy into "his" arguments that it's like an on-line field trip into the psych wards of an institution. Problem is that he ain't an MD shrink but one of the committed ones...weird-ass role-reversal thing! Ham radio it ain't. Not even close to "policy." It's like if Kraft-Ebbing had a collection of hobby deviants bound into a book, not about sex but of morsemanship gone awry. It's a wonder that ANYONE gets an "interest" in ham radio from Stebie's outpourings...da ultimate murine DILL instructor (pursed lips of disgust at all the "maggots" around him needing to be swatted by his swagger stick...except his "stick" is a shortie). "For the corpse, God, and country." In that order. Temper fry. Brian, let's wait and see what the Master Debater yanks off on later...:-) |

Sounds like a lil' kid squalling to mommie...:-) Stebie NEVER does anything wrong...it's ALWAYS the "other person." All I have asked YOU is to show some evidence of YOUR examples of having ever been even remotely plausable or having happened in fact. Wow! "Other people" have to testify in moot court, "show evidence," take oaths, etc. Stebie can pervert the "evidence" anywhichway (and does) to show the "other person" is da bad guy. Stebie be Da Man! :-) Especially today, after literally hundreds of thousands of dollars have been poured into ARES from Homeland Defense resources to provide an even more comptetent operator. Tsk. Money pit. "Pork barrel" kind of thing? Besides, that sole "operator" must get awful tired being on-duty 24/7, big money or no. Gotta love it...a "competent operator" who must be a morseman sitting around and waiting for the Big Emergency so that he can send all that morse (at high speed, of course) on the ham bands and Save The Nation! I've asked you SEVERAL TIMES now to show me JUST ONE example of some situation where ARES was asked to respond to a situation but couldn't due to any of the criteria YOU cited. Tsk, tsk, tsk...lil Stebie hasn't yet given US any data on the When and Where of his famous "seven hostile action" participations. Not "ONE" even... Has lil Stebie acknowledged that the DoD directs MARS? I don't think so. Lil Stebie still thinks that "MARS IS ham radio!" :-) But...lil Stebie cries and cries, demanding everyone (that disagrees with him) to show how bad they are, all the mistakes they made, and will never ever admit he makes ANY mistakes in here. :-) Just about exactly what I'd expect from a coward, Brian. Thanks for not disappointing me. Tsk, tsk, tsk. NO camaraderie in the ham ranks, it seems. Lil Stebie gets Mad As Hell (and can't take it at all) then resorts to all kinds of name-calling. "Coward" and the like. Cowardice following bragging is exemplified by his claim to participation in the "seven hostile actions." Tsk. Are those your opinions? Nice try. No, they are not. Lil Stebie got NO opinions? Tsk, tsk. Lil Stebie just spouts away and WHATEVER he spouts IS the truth (according to him). SOP for Stebie. You made "statements of fact" that were nothing BUT opinion. You're the one jumping to conclusions, Steve. You expect everything that anyone says to be fact verified by Saint Hiram. Nice fall-back to Lennie's rhetoric, Brian. Failing to stay aheqad on your own you had to "run hom to Mama". Tsk, tsk, tsk. Invoking another again, plus personal insults on that other. [usual SOP for Stebie] Lil Stebie squalling to mama, "I didn't do it...Brian did it!" [not to mention the angry typing of "aheqad" and "hom"...:-)] I made no "conclusions". I HAVE been asking YOU to substantiate claims and assertions YOU have made that they may be better understood. Tsk. Stebie done agressively get in EVERYONE's face if that everyone so much as expressed mild disapproval of Stebie's glorious, noble, "truth" outpourings in here. Well, this IS Stebie's playground. Newsgroup was created expressly for lil Stebie to shout, holler, bitch, cuss, moan, insult, denigrate others to his heart's content. Everything in here involves Stebie allatime and he MUST comment on everything and how nasty all those others are... :-) All you do is dodge, deceive and try to blow it off by calling me "nuts" for having dared to challenge you on YOUR claims. Tsk. You ARE nuts, big hero seven-hostile-action man! Go count all the medals in your cigar box. :-) Now you're angry because I won't let go and am backing you into a corner to answer your own claims. Shudd've either ante'd up some answers or just said something to the tune of "That was just my opinion...I really don't have any facts to substantiate it..." Oooooo! Okay, everybody, let's all make a macro to show we all know the "difference" between opinion and assertion! That I could live with as an honest answer. You CANNOT live with the truth, "Col Jessup." :-) Instead, you've treated us to months and months of deception and avoidance. Stebie, this whole newsgroup is a BIG CONSPIRACY AGAINST YOU!! :-) Everyone who doesn't live in Stebieland is a "liar" and tries to "deceive" and "avoid" and all that other nastyness you spout. "And" nothing, Brian...Is that all your "unlicensed devices", "ARES", and other statements were? Unsubstantiated opinion? A simple yes or no will clear the whole thing up. Okay, here's an answer for you: Yes. No. Happy? :-) You make assertions of fact. I ask you for facts to back the assertions up. Then you claim I am "nuts" for having asked you what the truth is. Hey, you aren't "nuts." You ARE psycho of some kind. No problem on observing your constant sociopathic antagonism against ALL who disagree with you. But, you are being hypocritical again. Just before you asked for a "simple yes or no." Now you are switching sides again and demanding "facts" to "back up" everything. Tsk, tsk. Stebie a "switch hitter?" Tsk. If you'd take no other lesson from all of this than to learn the difference between an "assertion", "Statement as fact" and how to express an idea as an opinion, you'd have a far less tumultuous newsgroup experience. Oooooooo! Lectures from the bottom of the black pot! Gotta love it. Stebie presses and presses on folks in message after message, calling them names of many kinds and trying to pick fights and flame-wars. NOW he is all kinds of noble, saintly, heroic "lecturer" on "how to comport oneself in a newsgroup! :-) sayonara, bb Oh...?!?! You speak Japanese now? Gee...Your mentor seems to always want to try and "ding" me for calling him a "putz" due to his expectation that I don't speak Hebrew. YIDDISH you schmuck. Geez, I know MORE Hebrew than Stebie knows Nihon-go. Jewishness passed over Stebie. Please...Tell us all about your experiences in Japan and your fluency in Kanjii. Tsk. Honorable Stebie only samurai who was able to shoot himself in the foot with his sword... Wakarimasen? [say "hai..." :-) ] Gotta love all the camaraderie among hams. Too bad none of it gets passed on by Stebie, the ace of the TN CAP (with his handy DSP-equipped Icom HT). Okay, Stebie, wanna hear all about how to do REAL HF comms from Japan? :-) I did three years of it. Stebie did ZERO, zip, nada, nyet, nothing like that. Kindly show where I've said they've refused anything, you idiot. I'm not the idiot here, Brian. You are. Wrong again. Is that lie #13? Why yes it is. You were the one who started this off by insisting that ARES did not have adequate human resources to fulfil their "duties". All I have asked YOU is to show some evidence of YOUR examples of having ever been even remotely plausable or having happened in fact. Especially today, after literally hundreds of thousands of dollars have been poured into ARES from Homeland Defense resources to provide an even more comptetent operator. Indeed. Spending money doesn't necessarily get results. There was a report yesterday about Bill Clinton's "100,000 more Police" on the streets. Hundreds of millions spent, a lot was squandered. I've asked you SEVERAL TIMES now to show me JUST ONE example of some situation where ARES was asked to respond to a situation but couldn't due to any of the criteria YOU cited. Phil provided his situation. Phil's situation has been covered. HE provided that. He indicated that there was a deficit in the # of volunteers. There was just a deficit in the way they were assigned. Nope. They were employed according to the concept of operations. YOU claimed that "unlicensed devices play a major role" in "emergency comms". I've asked your to substantiate THAT claim with some sort of valid reference, but you;ve balked at that one, too. Practically all first responders use cell phones. Cell phones are often how a person is initially notified that they are in an emergency period. The military relies on them quite heavily. Cellphones are NOT unlicensed devices. If a fact isn't presented then the opinion is wrong? You da man! "I believe that ARES will not be able to respond to future emergencies due to the greying demographic" is an opinion. "ARES is dependent upon graying old men who can't respond to emergencies" is an assertion. Are those your opinions? Nice try. No, they are not. Then where did you get them from? It really is THAT simple. Steve, K4YZ It really is quite simple to see that you claim people's opinions are wrong. Then you start the "liar, liar" routine. It's all archived. Again and again. And you still have not come completely clean. Shudd've either ante'd up some answers or just said something to the tune of "That was just my opinion...I really don't have any facts to substantiate it..." I owe you nothing. Nothing at all. If you don't like my opinions then you can just not like them. Oh my, hope that wasn't too much tuff love for you. That I could live with as an honest answer. Instead, you've treated us to months and months of deception and avoidance. You have. Now substantiate the two statements in quotes above. You continue to refuse to validate your assertions unless you are NOW stating that all they were WAS opinion, and nothing BUT opinion. And? "And" nothing, Brian...Is that all your "unlicensed devices", "ARES", and other statements were? Unsubstantiated opinion? A simple yes or no will clear the whole thing up. Nothing is what you'll get, Steve. It's exactly what you deserve. Actually, In YIDDISH (not "Hebrew" as Stebie thought), the word "putz" is used as a pejorative meaning "head/mind is in his penis." In other words, a HIGHLY uncomplimentary nasty word that Schmuck Stebie has used soooooooo many times. [ALL archived on Google...surprise, surprise! :-) ] Stebie does a tour on Okinawa and thinks he was "in Japan." Problem is that Okinawans do NOT refer to themselves as "Japanese" in the strictest sense of the word. Never let little details worry lil Stebie. :-) Hai, wakarimas... Hai, wakarimas... ["yes, we understand" in conversational Japanese] Glad to see you retained something else from your time in Japan other than your ill-conceived embellishing of your own service record, Lennie.
