I'd call the VEC first since they are the ones who filed the
paperwork.

In the mean time, I assume they issued you a CSCE (Certificate of
Successful Completion of Examination) for all applicable elements. You
didn't mention the 5WPM code test but I assume when you said "all
exams" you meant that too.

If you didn't do the Morse part, Technician is all you will get
for now unless you pass Element 1 within 365 days of the CSCE date, or
unless the FCC rules on 05-235 to allow you to operate without it since
you passed the writtens.

As long as you have the CSCE showing successful completetion of
ALL elements for Extra, and the FCC has issued you a callsign, you can
legally operate with your Extra privileges using the Extra
"identifier", for example "KZ4ZZZ / AE" in Morse or teleprinter, and
"KZ4ZZZ Stroke Alpha Echo" on voice.

Yes, I passed elements 1, 2, 3 and 4 same day. Was hoping for a shorter
callsign since I'd like to do some QRP/CW work as my Morse skills progress
beyond 5wpm. Perhaps a new call will be issued with the license "upgrade",
or maybe I'll have to go the vanity call route. Remains to be seen. I knew
I
could use the AE privileges with a Tech license (it was a question on the
exam) with a CSCE and proper ID... now I just need a transmitter.... heh.

Congratulations!

Many thanks

Once they have issued the call sign, they won't change it as part of
correcting the database. You don't have to go the vanity route though.
Once the database is correct for license class, you can get a new Extra
class sequential callsign simply by submitting a request for a sequentially
issued call. However, it won't be much shorter than what you have now as
all that is available this way are the 2x2 calls beginning with A. If you
want a short call, you'll have to search for ones no longer used and submit
a vanity application.
