(a) No amateur station shall transmit: messages in codes or ciphers intended to obscure the meaning thereof, except as therwise provided herein; Although obscuring the mean isn't real a good idea in this day and age, code and cipher can have some value including allowing multiply persons on the same frequency at the same time, allowing for what band space we have become a little larger through encryption. Example like short spacing repeaters, and allowing multi-repeaters on the same frequency in the same town, just to name one Todd N9OGL Encryption doesn't by it's nature enable frequency multiplexing; that's something else entirely.
