[quote=Orator For Decency]What is Ham Radio?

(Preface)
It is becoming increasingly difficult to fly the flag for
decency and for civilised behaviour in Radio Hammery.

1. Webster is a Yank dictionary and not an English one, so the
question is irrelevant.

2. Dictionaries do not prescribe they merely describe so the
question is, once again, irrelevant.

3. If it seems that I am being intolerant towards those who are not
Radio Hams by any stretch of the imagination, then, good. That
was and is my intention. We should guard jealously the privileges
that we have and stand apart from those who are simple appliance
operators and simple-minded CBers and who are indistinguishable
from the man-in-the-street with his GSM phone or CB walkie-talkie..

4. That said, I warmly encourage, as I have always done, everybody
without exception and without prejudice to exert themselves to
join our ranks. There is no snobbery in a wish to maintain standards.

5. Radio Hammery is a technical pursuit and I wish for it to always
remain so.

6. Whoever you are, I am critical of you for originating personal
remarks. There is no call for such. Ham Radio has traditions of
international gentlemanliness which seem to be lost on you. I am
not familiar with the Yankland licensing scheme; Is "KC7GR" some
form of CB licence?

drivelectomy

For once, Beany, you couldn't be more correct. Your posts represent
a perfect example of exactly the kind of intolerance and LACK of
"civilised behaviour" that has permeated some parts of "Hammery"
(interesting word, BTW... Is it in Webster's yet?)

As are the dsp, engineering, maths, scouting etc groups that have also
rejected his moronic rantings and personal attacks. It must be lonely out
there for him.
