Indeed, in consideration that the FAQ is maintaining a
stance for the traditions of _REAL_ Ham Radio, the
traditions of technical motivation and gentlemanly
conduct, against the influx of the Mongolian Hordes
of CBers of one sort or another, it would be reasonable
to assume that the chorus of abusive and infantile
objectors are all from the CB camp, and therefore
providing graphic illustration of why it is necessary to
take this stance now.

It would seem that the CBer-Masquerading-As-A-Radio-Ham
is no recent phenomena - there are some hoilding licences
issued in the G4K-- series.

Irrespective of when such licences were issued, public
outbursts of Childish Behaviour (CB) do the cause of
Radio Hammery no good at all.

Such Childish Behaviour (CB) does nothing for
the public's perception of Radio Hammery, and,
indeed, may well serve to dismay those who
are potential candidates to become _REAL_
Radio Hams.

Shame on all those who exhibit such infantile glee.

I was considering returning to the hobby, but frankly the view in this
FAQ has put me off.

Anyone care to comment ?

The point of view posted by "Orator for Decency" is not the FAQ for
this newsgroup. It is in fact the deranged rantings of one Gareth Alun
Evans, ex-G8DXY, G4SDW. He posts this "FAQ" approximately every week,
apparently trolling for trouble (and frequently finding it!) Those that
react to his FAQ are then subjected to systematic harassment.

If G4SDW finds that the individual who reacts has a hobby outside
amateur radio, he makes a nuisance of himself in newsgroups relating to
that hobby:

bands, until, that is, a test was introduced at their
intellectual level, the intellectual level of 6-year-olds. "

Hold on a mo. I'm a class B licence holder - G8LIR, and have been for,
oh about 30 years I think. My main interest was in fast scan ATV on 70
Cms and 23cms, and with a small team we competed in many ATV contests,
setting new (and I think unbroken) records. All our equipment was home
built - yes I do mean ALL - including narrow band ATV receivers
utilising inline cavities and integrating receivers to subtract noise
and reveal lost images when only a weak sync pulse was available. We
also DESIGNED and built the linear amplifiers using 4cx250's in push
pull, with 2kv on the anodes and tuneable cavities (not copied
designs). And, oh yes, we designed filters using laplace transforms to
calculate the correct vaues for the inductors, wound them ourselves and
tuned then with second hand spectrum analysers.

Now to me, that level of technical expertise speaks to a certain
intellectual level over a 6 year olds.

I was considering returning to the hobby, but frankly the view in this
FAQ has put me off.

Anyone care to comment ?

Ignore this creep Andy.

It's people like yourself that are the lifeblood of amateur radio.

Good luck and see you on the air.

You'll find one in every crowd. He doesn't speak for me. Rebutting it only
adds to the noise level. Just add him to the kill file.

Thanks to everyone who commented

It seems that maybe this is not the general view of class B after all.
I'm going to lurk about on HF/VHF for a while listening and see how it
goes down, maybe I'll get my iron out then and do some stuff.

Thanks for the advice all

It would seem to be certain that you have taken a critique
of those Class Bers who took out a licence under the
gangrenous degeneration that is the M3/CB Fools'
Licence scheme to be a critique of all Class Bers, which it was not.

I suggest that you re-rea the FAQ, when you will actually find
yourself to be praised and not criticised.
