is it worth while to get a Rat Shack center loaded telescoping
antenna;

- which I've heard are F R A G I L E . .

or would a right angle BNC connector

( Rat Shack Model: 278-126 | Catalog #: 278-126 )

with ~ 5 feet of wire & an alligator clip suffice?

Thanks . . .

If your radio is stationary - have some sort of stand the Radio Shack
center loaded antenna is a good choice.

Also the Diamond RH77CA is also a great antenna

Thanks for the link ! ( Thats where I bought my Scanner )

hooked up # 278-126 Rat Shack BNC to ~ 4 feet 24 gauge wire;
hung it on me window;

picks up Lots of faint traffic I couldn't get with the standard whip.

Wondering if I keep adding segments what I will eventually be able to
pick up;

- will find out !
