The late beta of SP3 is actually posted and has been for a while.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Why should we believe you about this when you've lied about so many other things? ( OT) Save Windows XP--WHY?

Try Ubuntu. It gets more raw performance out of a given computer than Windows' wildest dreams. Oh yeah, it's free. www.ubuntu.com Alternatively, give this a try. http://www.kubuntu.org/announcements/6.10-release.php It's also based on the Debian distribution and you can add a Gnome desktop once you know what you want. People should be aware that most Linux installs put a new boot block on the first drive. You have a choice if you want to start Linux or the Windows installation you now have. You can either partition your existing drive or just install another one. The prices on hard drives have come down dramatically in the last few years. A person can try it before installing anything by running it from a self loading CD. Naturally, the cd is a heck of a lot slower than a hard drive, but at least you get to play without committing. From another site: ====================================== The desktop CD allows you to try Kubuntu without changing your computer at all, and at your option to install it permanently later. This type of CD is what most people will want to use. You will need at least 192MB of RAM to install from this CD. http://releases.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/6.06/ ======================================= mike |

The bootup OS chooser thing is called the GRUB. |

The cult offerings are quite expansive. http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsy/ Odd, most people report a marked improvement in performance, especially if using Xubuntu. |
