You didn't say which model Radio Shack you have?

If the scanner is designed for reception of the 900MHz band, then generally,
you should be able to receive cordless phones in the 900MHz band. However,
many of the newer phones use spread spectrum technology, or digital, which
will prevent you from hearing them.

Be advised, monitoring cordless telephones is now illegal in the U.S.

i dont get on the computer much.....
has someone been able to convert the radio shack portable
