Default Police & Fire Freq's Between 30 And 40 MHz: Is Mode fm ?

Hi,

Question concerning modes:

Have several listed frequencies between 30.0 and 40.0 MHz for town fire and
police.

Can't seem to receive them (well).

Would these likely be fm ? (thought they were pretty low freq's for fm,
but new at this, and don't really know)

Bob

Don't know where your located, but in California, the California Highway
Patrol (CHP or Chippies) are between 42 and 43 Mhz, with some freqs in the
39 Mhz range. There is talk of going to a trunk system, but haven't heard
when, yet. Eric KA6USJ
