Default Virginia Beach Hampton Roads systems

Anyone know what type of systems Virginia Beach and other Hampton Roads
communities are using? Will I need a trunk tracker? Ge? Erikson? APCO?

While it seems to offer some streaming MP3 audios of radio traffic I can not
find any info on this site as to what would be best type scanner for this
area.

Thanks for the response though

They may be using smoke signals here shortly to communicate.

Won't the wind cause the smoke to Dissipate too quickly to be of use?

Won't the rain keep putting out the fire to create the smoke?

Gee I never realized that Smoke Signals could have so many problems,
just like trunk systems

Va Beach and Norfolk are on Motorola trunking systems. These are analog so
there are not APCO25 and don't require the new "digital" scanners. Va
Beach was still using Type I talkgroups last time I checked but Norfolk is
using Type II.

Newport News is also on a Motorola Type II trunking system (analog). The
city of Hampton uses an analog EDACS system (actually 2 systems).

All of these can be monitored on just about any trunk tracking scanner.

I don't know about any other systems in that immediate area.
