Vertex Question

I own a vertex vx10 VHF portable which I had programmed by the person
I bought it from. I just recently had it re-programmed by a friend and
lost a feature. When I used to key the mic, the radio would emit a
quick "chirp" noise. It doesn't do it anymore and my friend cannot
find this option in the programming software. Anyone know what this
is??
