Default WHAT a day for military monitoring !!

It is 2:25pm EST (1925z)
RAZOR 66 sounds like he is getting ready to RTB Robins. He is getting the
wx there from Cape Metro (344.6).
So much to hear today I have not had time to log it all. F-15s (BUDs) and
F-18s (GATORs) have been coming into Patrick, AWACS is controlling many flights
in the Whiskey Areas, including the Dutch F-16s (KILLERs), FANGs, SNAKEs, BUDs,
HOBIEs. JSTARS "StrikeStar" is talking to the Northrop Grumman ground station
"Star 1," as well as to the AWACS ("Darkstar"), to fighters. The Dutch are also
working at Avon Park, using SPIDER callsign. And of course the mainstay US
State Department acft (BRONCO OV-10Ds) are flying the Patrick pattern,
accompanied by a CHS C-17, LIFTER 35. USN ASW SH-60F helos (AW 602) have been
transiting southward. And of course, Eglin's WIDGET 48 stopped by, ICE's
N741SK transited, and assorted transports passed through.
WHAT a day !!
Any freq you plug in will work today, but 267.5, 284.5, 292.2, 364.2,
225.8, 237.15, 301.0, 225.725 are some of the busiest in addition to the UHF
ATC freqs.
Stay the quest.

Al, do you hear a lot of drug interdiction traffic there as well?? Also,
due to your location, the bases probably do a lot of support mission to
South America and Gitmo as well.

Lots. If you are familiar with the Caribbean drug interdiction comms that
are on hf freq 8971 (USB), you know that many of the participating acft are
based in Jacksonville FL. I get to hear, on UHF and VHF,the USN P-3s from Jax
and the HH-60s from Mayport and Georgia bases, as well as RAID helos as they
travel south on Coronet Oak missions. Many stop for their last refueling at
Palm Beach IAP.
I also hear the ICE (formerly US Customs Svc) acft that are based at Cecil
Field in Jacksonville, including the drug surveillance P-3s and the
interdiction helos.
Most importantly because I live right off the departure end of Patrick
AFB's Rnwy 20, I get to watch and hear the US State Dept's International
Narcotics Mission OV-10Ds and UH-1N helos that fly the coca eradication
(spraying) missions in Columbia, several of which have been shot down lately by
the drug lords there. We also have that unit's C-27A Trojans and CE-208
Caravans here at Patrick. They might not seem as glamorous as the OV-10s and
Hueys, but their UHF/VHF comms are every bit as interesting when they come and
go on drug missions.
If folks are interested I will make it a point to post some of the drug
comms logging I do. But if they are active missions, I always delay posting
until the mission is over.

Yes, it's great. I reside in an housing plan in Myrtle Beach where the
"HOA Cops" would never allow antennas so we could receive such.

I would enjoy reading some of the info you offered.

Thank you.
