My ebay BC250D scanner arrived - MINT CONDITION -
I am totally happy with it. I had it delivered to
my office, Fridays are quiet there. In the first
2 hours that I had it I FINALLY managed to delete
all the stored info .. and tried to start
programming. WHAT A LAUGH ! The BC250D manual
made this college graduate feel like a complete
idiot. I am not new to scanners, I am new to the
trunk system, but the trunked system can make
anyone feel like a dope.

So I left work and stopped off at my neighborhood
Radio Shack to show them my new scanner [I am a
pretty regular shopper there] and also BEG for
help with my scanner. One worker there is a
scanner addict and he programmed my first bank for
me. Volusia County, FL [EDACS]

So he programs a few freq and then I take the
scanner from him and finish while he waits on a
customer. Then I clicked scan and listened for a
bit .. Next he programmed something .. He talks in
a way that I can't follow much easier than I can
the damn manual .. something about ID's. If I
understand correctly .. I have all these freqs and
those freq carry all the Volusia calls, be it
medical - police - or city workers. and the IDs
are sort of like sub menus .. so I can scan police
calls only or medical only ??? I AM NOT SURE !!

But I figure that now that I am not ENTIRELY
CLUELESS like I was at work, I can go home to read
[and understand] the manual ... NOPE !! I blame it
on the small type, that I am tired .. my eyes are
tired .. I will just listen and scan and when I
wake up refreshed and drink a few cups of coffee,
I will then be able to understand WTF I am
reading. NOPE !! Still don't get it and the
manual is from hell ..

The manual walks you through the menus and sub
menus .. but doesn't tell you what the choices
mean .. OH DEAR .. Will I ever get this ?? Is
there a BC250D scanner manual for dummies ??
Trunking for Dummies ??? Tried searching the web
for a dummy website .. I AM CLUELESS and
FRUSTRATED .. Where do I start to understand what
the "talk groups" mean ?? How and why to program
them, what to name them .. etc etc ..
