Default Major CTCSS Bug in the new BC898T

May not be a bug. Possibly you have a defective radio. I've been using the
BC898-T for several weeks now, and I have CTCSS programmed where applicable,
and it's been working flawlessly!

After awhile (usually a few hours), the scanner stops decoding CTCSS
tones. The scanner will no longer stop on channels programmed with
CTCSS/DCS. Searching for tones will no longer work either. Turning
the radio off and on temporarily fixes the problem, but then it
returns. Check out the BC898T Yahoo group and StrongSignals for more
info. I'm waiting for a reply from Uniden on their repair policy.

This is the second or third time I have seen this posted. Could be a
firmware problem, like they had in the BCT-7

Mine was working fine (almost 3 weeks) until today too. The fact that
several people besides myself have reported the same exact problem,
leads me to definitely believe it's a bug. I'm awaiting a response
from Uniden.

That's a GOOD Question!
I've had a BCT 7 for years and never had a problem.

The early ones would not hold the lockouts, which made use impossible since
it is a pre-programmed scanner.
I sent it into Uniden and they did the firmware update to cure it. You
probably have a later manufactured unit.

My BC895 did the same exact thing but after I reset the CPU, and dumped
the memory, the problem went away. I was hoping that this problem would
have been fixed with the new release, but I guess not.
