Do FRS/GMRS radios use wfm, nfm, or other scannable, non-digital modulation
modes?
All I can find on the fcc site is power level restrictions and whether or
not you can have a detachable antenna.

NFM... Some use Speech Inversion scrabbling for "privacy".

There are, however it's almost easier to just buy a voice inversion
FRS radio. :)

There are, however it's almost easier to just buy a voice inversion
FRS radio. :)

Search for "LP Communications Speech Inverter" on this page:
http://www.funkmeldesystem.de/download.php to download. I have used this
program a couple times...it basically works, but I wouldn't say the results
are high fidelity...

Right on Doug, I got it. How does it work? The txt file that came with it
is pretty meager --- do you play the inverted input through your snd card
and then start this exe and the output is reverted?

You got it. You need to make sure the input signal doesn't get sent to the
speakers or you'll never make any sense of it.

There are three programs that I aware of that can do speech inversion
through your computers sound card. I see that you have already found one of
them though an online link. If you have access to
alt.binaries.radio-scanner, I will upload all three of those files to that
group... Most likely one of them you already have, if "invert.exe" is the
same as the one I have by that name...
