If you were to publicly proclaim him guilty (without clearly expressing that it was the _opinion_ of yourself or others) in view of the court's determination, you could well be successfully sued for slander. That's why the news media carefully use the term "allegedly" in reference to presumed criminals all the way up to the moment of conviction. They wish to avoid prosecution, generally in the case of media, for libel. |
