"Drifter" wrote in message ... Ever since a lightning storm last week it seems like I'm getting a lot of line noise (60 cycle hum) from my Pro 92. Running on batteries it seems fine. Would you all consider it likely that the "wall wart" is the problem or is there some other type of transformer in the radio itself. Thanks Drifter "I've been here, I've been there..." Sure sounds like the AC adapter could be the problem. I would take it to a place like a RS, and ask if they have a "universal AC adapter" that would fit it. Act like you don't know what they are, and see if they will demo one for you. If they can see if the noise is gone when you try theirs, then you will know if you need to replace the one you have. Why act?? Tell them you think the original one has become noisy and if their's runs the radio and is nice and quiet you'll be purchasing it. Also, instead of the universal model, test one with the same voltage and current capacity as the original. |
