Default Help Me Understand Rebanding

When the band is redone, the FCC channel numbering scheme will change to
accomodate the NPSPAC channels (12.5 KHz offsets) in the lower 120
channels. Motorola's SmartNet controller transmits the FCC channel
number to the subscriber unit when assigning a talkgroup. The subscriber
radio calculates the frequency from the channel number. Unless the
firmware in the subscriber unit or scanner is updated, those receivers
will not know where to listen. Personally I would not buy a scanner
unless the manufacturer commits to a post rebanding firmware change.
