I own the Pro 2052
and it is not bad...but it does have a limitation...it can not scan
trunked and standard bands at the same time - one or the other
also it can only scan one bank of trunked freqs at a time

For cities with tons of talk groups this is a problem since there are
only 50 entries per bank in trunked mode (Seattle police alone have more
than 50 talk groups)

If you are listening to non trunked freqs it is not bad at all 20 banks
of 50 channels makes it easy to seperate various agencies into own bank

if you are going for trunked listening... it would not be good choice if
there are over 50 talk groups per command channel that you want to
listen to....

There is a program that will switch between the modes (trunked and non
trunked) every 2 min and it also has other features that are nice (lets
you program the Pro-2052 from computer and operate it as well0

If I had noticed that this radio didn't have the ability to scan both
trunked and nontrunked systems and couldn't scan more than 1 bank of
trunked at a time I wouldn't have got it....prolly would have gotten one
of the hand helds that can (Pro 95, 96 or 97) and used it on my base
antenna.

Depending on your location, and requirements. The PRO-2052 will not receive
the newer APCO-25 digital modes that many public safety departments are
switching to. It's also on the list of scanners that will be adversely
effected once rebanding of the 800MHz trunked systems takes place. This
may, or may not be an issue, depending on your location, and the system's
frequencies.

It is one of the few scanners on the market that is capable of receiving UHF
Military Air, in the AM mode.
