Default Discone which allow transmit on CB bands

Are they any good, how would they compare with my old Weltz Diamond D1300
which with a swr of over 4 for CB I can't really use !

You are likely referring to the monitor antennas- these operate as a
discone from perhaps 120MHz and up. Below this they are nothing more than a
ground plane (thus the vertical whip attached to the disc).

A discone at CB would have a disc approx. 7' in diameter and a cone section
with 9' sides and a 9' diameter at the base of the cone. It would have no
advantage over a simple ground plane as bandwidth is not a concern for CB.
