Default Yosemite Sam??

Someone over at Free Radio Network posted the following today:

"6900USB 2308-2322 SIO444 hearing this again. Data burst, then Yosemite
Sam making funny noise and "take me to the Casbah". no code this time.
repeated 7 times and off. Then on again after 3 mintues with same
routine."

Could this be the Return of Sam?

Sure enough...I just heard it. Here's about 20 seconds of audio:

I somehow doubt that it's the 'real' Sam, since the 'real' Sam got busted.

Yes. It's also a much stronger signal at my location than the original
Sam ever was. I think this is best described as a "copycat Sam".

Default Yosemite Sam??

What's the point? Just a weird signal to confuse people?

I'm not sure what the point was of the original Sam broadcasts, though
someone here might be able to shed light on it. As for this "copycat"
Sam, my guess is that he's just being a copycat, probably in the hope
of generating discussion.

I think, from what I have read before in this news group,Yosemite Sam was
broadcasting illegally from a U.S.fed govt place in New Mexico.I could
be mistaken about that though. Some Hams tracked him down.

I was thinking I might drive my old raggity 1978 Dodge lonnnnngggg
wheelbase van across Highway 80 to the Sears store at the mall and let
them put some new tires on there. But I only drive about five or six
miles each week, those new tires would outlast me.
