RF Systems "MLB" {Magnetic Longwire Balun} - What Is It ?

I 'guess' a RF Systems "MLB" {Magnetic Longwire Balun}

Can be looked at as a Series-&-Parallel Transformer
with a common ground for both Windings.

A = Antenna {Longwire} Termenation/Connection
C - Coax Cable {Center-Conductor} Connection
G = Ground Coax Cable {Outer-Shield} Connection
.
A-to-G and C-to-G would read as near DC "Shorts"
since they are short pieces of Copper Wire.
- - - Also A-to-C would read as a near DC Short
due to the Series Circuit Path.
.
Inductively [AC & RF ] A-to-G and C-to-G would
each read as Reactance and function as an AC
Parallel Circuit Path.

And an alternative to that, and the method in use here, is to have a separate
ground coming off the balun and then ground the coax feed where it enters the
house.

Using that method there is no connection between the two windings on the toroid.

I've got one, not that I use it anymore. It seems to be the only balun
with low frequency specs. I did MW reception with it, but I never
compared it to the ham baluns.

Get a Wellbrook.

Interesting instructions. Looks like the "correct way" utilizes a 9:1
voltage balun between feed and antenna and a 1:1 current balun (called
isolator "AFI 5030" in the diagram) between other end of feed and the rig.

JS

Beware, we are considering to ask Bush to look into "Canada's Wires of
Mass Destruction!"
