For One and All,
. RF Systems "MLB" {Magnetic Longwire Balun} - What Is It ? http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Shortw.../message/11762 . I 'guess' a RF Systems "MLB" {Magnetic Longwire Balun} http://www.rf-systems.nl/pdf/mlb.pdf http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/sw_ant/1484.html http://www.hard-core-dx.com/nordicdx...d/magbal1.html http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/sw_ant/1465.html http://www.xs4all.nl/~deltron/MLB-ENG.pdf http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/sw_ant/4067.html http://www.qsl.net/wars/construct/mlb.htm http://www.universal-radio.com/catal.../1465chrt.html http://www.hard-core-dx.com/nordicdx...d/magbal2.html Can be looked at as a Series-&-Parallel Transformer with a common ground for both Windings. Using that method there is no connection between the two windings on the toroid. dxAce Michigan USA |

... Get a Wellbrook. http://www.wellbrook.uk.com/longwire.html Interesting instructions. Looks like the "correct way" utilizes a 9:1 voltage balun between feed and antenna and a 1:1 current balun (called isolator "AFI 5030" in the diagram) between other end of feed and the rig. Regards, JS |
