Sony says not to use anything but its own recommended AM antennas. Will I damage my 7600 GR if I experiment with this loop antenna? Hello What kind of connector does this antenna have ??? Remember that Sony 7600GR has a "hot" antenna plug (i.e. some current is provided to remotely switch on Sony antennas like Sony AN-LP1). If you consider connecting the antenna with the 7600GR's antenna socket, perhaps you check first wether the radio will support a shortcut between the tip and the sleeve Thanks for the help amd replies, everyone. Anyway I plugged in the antenna and all AM reception completely disappeared! I unplugged it and the otherwise excellent 7600GR AM reception returned. That being said, I have a recent Sony SW100 radio with the same kind of "hot" antenna socket, and I plugged-in successfully a home-made antenna that is short-cutting tip and sleeve... Some older SW100 radio are said not to support such things anyway.... So if your radio is not-so-old, it might work. Charly Disclaimer : I'm not a radio technical, I just speak according to my experience, don't ask me to refund your radio in case of problem :-) |
