For One and All,
Using a AM/MW Loop Antenna with the Eton E1 Radio Question - Whip Antenna Up-or-Down ? http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ETON-E...o/message/2990 When you are using a AM/MW Loop Antenna directly connected to Eton E1 Radio - Most of the time the built-in Whip Antenna 'should be' Collapsed Down into the Radio. WHY - The Loop Antenna is a Directional Antenna and give the best results "Peak" or "Null" when used by itself. HOWEVER - The Whip Antenna is an Omni-Directional Antenna and will pick-up everything from All-A-Round. When the Whip Antenna is Fully Extended it gathers more AM/MW Signals and thus generally reduces the effectiveness when the Loop Antenna is being used. WHIP-UP -and- WHIP-DOWN { Do the Test Yourself } Try the Whip Antenna "Up" with a Loop Antenna and then try the Whip Antenna down with a Loop Antenna on the AM/MW Band : * First with the Whip Antenna "UP go from the Bottom to the Top of the Band and Record the Frequency and Signal Strength of 15 -25 AM Radio Stations. * Then repeat the Process with the Whip Down. Hope you find the Results interesting. Just something to do when everything else is done. e1-ing you all ~ RHF |
