I notice that Jean Shepherd at 2200 GMT ("the Separation Center") on WBCQ today was recorded off Max Schmid's Mass Backwards on WBAI in some form or other. (probably from a sound file on flicklives.com) I know this because they had a bit of an ancient (LBJ was president) newscast on WOR (Shepherd was originally on WOR and there was also a syndicated version) and when they had a WOR station ID, Mr. Schmid came on and gave a WBAI ID. I think these tapes of The Jean Shepherd Show were "worked on" by Michael Ketter, of WBCQ removing some of the static & such at his Complex Variables Studio in Pittsburg, Pa. as a kid, I used to listen to "Shep" on WOR , broadcast out of New York I am truly glad that they are still being broadcast on WBCQ, Mondays at 5: In case you don't know, Jean Shepherd is mostly famous for the film " a Christmas Story" about childhood & his family in Chicago, round Christmas time.. |
