Excuses for war and power grabbing totalitarianism are everywhere. The

Gulf of Tonkin. Battleship Maine.

Exactly. If I recall, Spain accepted all the US demands and war STILL
happened. Randolph Hearst had seven million acres in Mexico, some of it
oil producing, so he had a huge interest. He may well have blown up the
ship to help his cause.

As for Tonkin, RHF and 'Ace' call the government admission of lying as
merely a media fabrication. None are so blind as those who will not see.

Please watch the peanut gallery turn this into yet another Canada
bashing opportunity.

No hate..just sadness. It's depressing when a potentially great
experiment goes bad. It won't be the first country on earth to be driven
to evil by greed, however.

Whatever that ''news reader'' that WebTV provides hasen't failed
yet.Except once, a few months ago for a few days because one of their
servers bit the dust.I think they got a new (rack mount server?) server
and got it all fixed up.It only affected WebTV's fire walled newsgroups
though.

Pay no attention to "The Great Telemondo" (he is a legend in his own
mind, yanno?)

He is confused, he has a dedicated news reader confused with himself, a
dedicated reader of the news--and BS poster ...

I have been to Japan twice before.Eight hours layover in Tokio. (I think
that hotel was the Tokyo Tokyu, or sompin like that.I didn't hang around
that hotel.Myself and some guys went out walking around, seeing the
sights. At the Ginza, there was big mounds of dirt along the street,
subway line, I think they was doing, or getting ready for the Olympics,
whatever) And on the way back home, spent the night at Yokota Air Force
Base.

Too bad they didn't have digital video back during the bomb drop, your
webtv would be perfect for viewing the drop!

Huh? The "bomb drop" as you call it, was in Hiroshima/Nagasaki in 1945;
Cuhulin was in Tokyo during the Viet Nam era, the mid sixties. The Ginza
is a popular upscale shopping/restaurant district of Tokyo.

Maybe they did remove 3 feet of radioactive top soil in
Hiroshima/Nagasaki, but why would you think they hauled it to the
Ginza??? To bring new meaning to the phrase "Shop 'til you drop"? :-)
