What the hell are you talking about? Channels 5 and 6 are *already
occupied* by ATSC DTV channels. I routinely watch channel 6 out of
Philadelphia, and you are NOT going to take it away from me. TV is
more important than some fm station.

(Besides the TV was there *first* and has a right to stay there.)

- It's bad enough we lost UHF channels 51 and up.
- Now you want the FCC to take away channels 5-6 too?
- **** that idea.

Converting the old Analog TV Channels 5 and 6 over to an
Expanded FM Radio Band {76-88 MHz} and having all the
'new' FM Broadcasters start out as 50% Analog/ 50% Digital
would insure the transition to FM Digital Radio and help to
clear-out the AM/MW Radio Band for a new Band Plan :
Fewer Radio Stations; Wider Channel Spacing; More Uniform
Power Output.

A small loss for TV a Greater Good for FM Digital Radio
Broadcasting and the Future of Over-the-Air Radio.

Hmmm. Sounds like you don't like the idea of someone going in and
messing up that particular piece of spectrum, huh?

Not the same. The FCC's decision to convert from analog-to-digital on
the AM band does Not make the bandwidth any smaller. It's still the
same size as always (530-1710).

But deleting channels 5-6 *does* shrink the bandwidth for television
(and also puts several stations across the nation out-of-business).
