Billy,
Likewise mate, at least with your posting you can hear the Source then echo ![]() Regarding the moon, hmmm it has been high in the sky very early in the night several days back, so its possible the moon was visible, however its been raining hear for past 48 hrs and have major cloud cover, so I can't visually confirm. Based on http://www.ga.gov.au/bin/astro/moonrisenset it says for South Canberra it should rise 1739 AEDT which was 0439 UTC. Thats said, on the side of hope, the faint tone does sound like your echo ?? Also, during the afternoon, I not sure what the 6.9-7.5 freq like for progation between Australia to US propagation, but I don't hear to much until the sun sets ?? There again the Moonbounce Transmitter where using a fair it of power..... BUGGER!!!! hopefully ARRL / Moon Bounce team may respond to my email and put me out of my misery ![]() Either which way, your recording was brillant and shows what the signal was suppose to sound like, do you mind if I use it on my BLOG ? I can hear the tone faintly, but is it the transmitter or echo ? Hmmmmmmmm Mark Mark, Thanks for posting the nice recording. I would presume you are hearing the transmitter, as it is the more powerful signal. There is quite a bit of path loss to the moon and back, so if you are only hearing -one- signal, bet on it being the stronger (terrestrial) signal. Also, to hear a reflection from the moon, the moon has to be above the horizon. As the moon was high overhead in the USA for the duration of the test, wouldn't the moon have already set (or not yet risen) in Canberra? -- |
