It is however surprising that you can hear them in the middle of USA.
That's way off target. I guess you're not using my kind of portable
equipment. Am I right?

Currently using the Drake R8 and a 70' wire. Still coming in quite
well at 1230
on 7145.

Loud, clear with light fading, at the Ill/Wisconsin State line.

Sorry. 1245 UTC.

Heard here on 15720 signing on at 2055.

back to 7145 and still there at 1102.

Must not have their automation set correctly as this conflicts with
their published sked.

Yes they have been messing up lately. I noted that they have been absent
on some frequencies lately. They were missing on 13,840 the other day
until something like 03:00 or 04:00 hours UTC.

I don't know about you but the B08 frequency changes have been very
favorable for me regarding RNZ and Australia. RNZ and Australia have
been pretty poor for me over this last winter.

And back on again at 2:11 UTC. We will see how long that lasts.

And 13,840 is off again at 3:37 UTC. What the heck? Now a DRM signal
comes up on frequency? 3 minutes later the DRM signal goes away. Took a
listen on 15,720 and no DRM signal there. Analog audio is back on 13,840
at 3:47 UTC.

The RNZI signal is often strong enough to hear in the eastern USA on a
good portable receiver with just the whip antenna. It's just a matter of
listening at the right time. RNZI used to be a real DX catch many years
ago when they were using only 7.5-kw of power. Then they went to 100-Kw
and it became easy to hear them. I ran across them on 7145 just by
coincidence the other night. I don't recall RNZI ever using the 41-m
band before.

This morning, April 5, everything seemed to go OK and RNZI came up on 9655 at
1100 rather than staying on 7145.

The announcer did mention that it was just past midnight and as a reminder DST
was to start at 3 AM.
