When I bought a ATS-909 from Crane Radio I thought that I had a good receiver but when I tested in after a few months of being stored in the package, I found that the speaker was badly distorted and when I asked Crane they said that the repair would cost a minimum of $ 75.00. Crane does not have a warranty that's worthwhile. Hello, I had the same problem with my ATS 909 (but after a year of operation). I bought a same size speaker at RS (or FARNELL). I remember that some of the metal coating / plating) went into the gap where the voice coil is located. This is not a sign of wear, but bad workmanship. I don't know the situation (legally) where you live, but as this is a high-end receiver within the Sangean range, over here in the Netherlands, this would be within the guarantee period (and should be repaired without any costs). I hope that you can move your supplier to have it repaired for free. Best regards, Wim PA3DJS www.tetech.nl please remove a b c from the address when replying directly. |
