Default Using D size battery adapter in a Grundig S350 or Tecsun BCL 3000 question

I already have a C401FS model Powerex charger for AA size batteries and it
works great. I only use rechargeable AA batteries (2300 mAh and under) for
my small radios and recently purchased Canon camera. However as I
mentioned, a D size battery charger is pretty expensive considering I only
have one radio that uses that size batteries. I was looking at the charger
model you suggested earlier today, and I just can't justify the cost along
with four Powerex D size rechargeables.

I am getting about 4-5 months use on a set of 4 alkaline batteries in my
Tecsun BCL 3000 radio now. If a set of rechargeable AA batteries could last
for a 3-4 weeks under similar conditions, I would be very happy with that.
I was just curious if anyone tried running this model radio with a set of
high-end 2700 mAh AA batteries already and what running time to expect
before they go flat.

A post just received earlier estimated 60% run time compared to regular
alkaline batteries. I thought that would be extremely optimistic.

Does anyone have practical experience using AA batteries with D size
battery
adapters with a Tecsun BCL 3000 radio?

Don't have that radio but use the AA2D adapters with my E1

If I get a good quality set of
2700 mAh AA Powerex batteries along with a set of D size adapters, how
long
will they last compared to a set of D size alkaline batteries?

Will last only a fraction of the time of "D" alkies, but the recycle
factor could amortize their use versus full size "D"s.

I was thinking of getting a D size battery charger but the cost of a good
one is pretty high. I've got a very good AA battery charger already, so I
am exploring the cheaper route.

If you're already using and are familiar with Powerex products you might
consider their versatile charger, Maha MH C808M, which will do all your
batteries regardless of what you end up with. http://tinyurl.com/yg53y6
When you switch to exclusive use of re-chargeables for radios, cameras,
flashlights etc., it'll pay for itself soon enough.
