"pocket-radio" wrote: 6/12/2008 John Gorman's Media Blog Radio: HD Radio's Booble and Bilk-o crank it up! Posted: 11 Jun 2008 06:10 PM CDT That horse has been beaten dead. You know it and I know it. HD Radio. If you bought into it, forget it. You’ve been swindled. You were robbed. It was one of the biggest, most expensive con jobs in radio history. Take solace in knowing that you were far from the only victim in this fraud. HD Radio - a waste of time, money, engineering, on-air time….need I continue? SNIP Maybe if they had spent time and money on the engineering it would have been successful but they didn't. This is real work that nobody wanted to do or pay for. HD and DRM both do not create an improved listener experience. Going from analog to HD or DRM has its pluses and minuses of one over the other creating a different experience but not a better experience. The upshot is consumers are not going to pay for sometime that is not really any better. I don't know about the other readers of this news group but when you have the associations of broadcasters and manufacturers getting together to build the next big step in radio communications I have pretty high expectations. Neither HD or DRM come close to what I want. -- Telamon Ventura, California |
