I did, but with mixed results. I was using the Turboprint driver for the
Canon 5000. That doesn't work any more because of an obsoleted
dependency. I don't want to pay again for the new version, 2+ something.

The majority of my self installed executables got wiped out in the
upgrade, including the Linux version of rx320. I had to recompile. When
I did the upgrade, I didn't realize so much was going to be overwritten.

It's a good thing I had a separate partition called /store that didn't
get changed. All my downloads live there. My /home partition is never
formatted either.

Long term support. I run Gutsy on my EeePC and it hasn't updated in a
long time. I'd upgrade that but it's a custom distro with all the EeePC
bugs worked out.

I have no machine control running on this box, it's strictly a surfer.
The edit beast in the garage upgraded uneventfully, and it has a lot of
custom stuff (10 X 10 Envy 24 soundcard, etc.), but that's a different
kernel (Ubuntu Studio).

- Hence my caution to upgrade; If theres no clear benefit, why change
a thing ?

XMMS is as good as Winamp, but I use VLC. The real Cadillac of media
stuff is Amarok. Too fancy for me. I love the free part.

Oh yeah, with double-digit inflation on the way thanks directly to the
plummeting value of the dollar, unregulated financial industry lunacy,
and skyrocketing energy prices --- all Bush's fault to some degree or
another --- it's good the GOP is in such great shape.

http://www.businessweek.com/bwdaily/...s+%2B+analysis

With rumors of a floor fight in Denver between Clinton loyalists and
Obama supporters at the Democratic Convention, with Michigan and
Florida perhaps being seated after all, all eyes will be on the
convention. The drama and excitement will sell an awful lot of
newspapers and fill a lot of broadcast hours.

By comparison, the Republic party convention is going to be a rather
pathetic, embarassing, and flaccid affair. Unless they figure out a
way to disinterr and reanimate Ronald Reagan and get him to give the
keynote speech. LOL. What a bunch of losers and failures.

Oops, I didn't mean to copy that noxious fakewarewindows-xp link in
the prior reply.
Best not to open it, in case you hadn't read the other thread replies.
