There are several "digital" - modes that use a PC sound card, and these are - a hoot. You can "listen" to PSK31 very easily: - - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQpBGh9RMEQ - - It's quite the sensation; you can work the world - with 10 Watts or less. the point of shortwave radio listening (swl) is to . . . listen to the radio - be it voice or code ~ RHF The word "listen" doesn't appear in the name of the group. The hobby is about technical skills. Any mouth-breather can buy fancy radios and string up a wire and hear a 100,000 (and up) Watts radio station from the other side of the world; it takes a lot of skill and a lot of luck to see someone typing on a keyboard in New Zealand working the Pacific Northwest on 5 Watts. PSK31 is more efficient than CW. |
