and steal the headlines from the financial doomsday.

It's a little premature to get all excited about one sunspot group.
We had zero in Aug and one in Sept and nearly halfway through this month
one so far means nothing.

one so far means nothing.

The prediction model by NOAA was updated last April. According to it the
time for increasing sun spots is now to early 2009. I'm betting early
2009. Note the old broken lines are the 2007 predictions.

That's why I called it a sputtering start,
but their frequency of appearance is increasing.

It's way to early to know what's going on yet. The trend should be clear
between now and next February.

My prediction for Nov is for a small uptick in the sunspot numbers and
solar activity and then more of the quiet sun we have been having in
Dec.

I don't think we are out of the bottom yet. Maybe early next year.
