Absolutely correct -- and unless the millions of words spoken on the topic by ALL the media were wrong, the Big 3 -are- looking for LOANS, a 'bridge' loan. Get it? 'Bailout' was *Shelby's* term that I was using. (BTW, the previous point just illustrates more of Shelby's hypocrisy). =IF= As you claim the 'difference' between the BIG-3 the 'Other' US Domestic Auto Makes is the Retirement Costs of the UAW Retirees : Then Transfer Them All To Social Secuirty and as a Tax Payer I will Gladly Paid to See that They Get What Everyone Else Gets : BUT ! I Say HELL NO To Paying Them More Than [DOUBLE and TRIPLE] What Their Fellow Citizens Receiving Social Security Are Getting : That's Fair and That's Equitable. Huh? Roy, what in the -hell- are you talking about? Pensions are pensions and Social Security is Social Security. They were promised their pension contractually. They earned their pension fair and square. It is totally different than Social Security. Pensions are 'over and above and in addition to' what people get from SS. "Double or triple" has NOTHING to do with the issue. It is what they were contractually promised and what they earned. You are mixing apples and oranges. They are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. BP, Tell that to all the 'other' US Pensioners who have been Shafted by the US Federal Government Laws that allowed United Airlines and countless other American Retirees to lose most; if not all their Private Company Pensions. Many/Most now get social Security as their only Pension now; or as a Supplement to a Greatly Reduced Pension. Once again in the name of Equality and Fairness the UAW Retirees deserve No Better and Deserve No Worse then Other Private Pension Plan Retirees who's Company's have Gone Bankrupt and been force to Divest themselve of burdensome Retiree Cost and Re-Structure to become Viable as a Business Again. Plus once again the US Taxpayers many of whom are Social Security Retirees should not have to pay for exorbitant Bankrupt Retirement Plans for UAW Retirees when they themselves only receive a half or a third of the amount themselves. ?Why" in the interest of Equality and Fairness for All Retirees Who the US Government {Taxpayers} are Picking-Up the Tab. BP - Everyone Knows That The BIG-3 and The UAW Wants To Dump The Retirement Cost On the US Tax Payers : AND I SAY HELL NO TO THAT [.] ~ RHF |
