![]() "John Smith" wrote in message Damn democrats anyway! Who are they to ask us to participate in our own government! ROFLOL House Speaker Nancy Pelosi plans to re-write House rules today to ensure that the Republican minority is unable to have any influence on legislation. Pelosi's proposals are so draconian, and will so polarize the Capitol, that any thought President-elect Obama has of bipartisan cooperation will be rendered impossible before he even takes office. Pelosi's rule changes -- which may be voted on today -- will reverse the fairness rules that were written around Newt Gingrich's "Contract with America." In reaction, the House Republican leadership is sending a letter today to Pelosi to object to changes to House Rules this week that would bar Republicans from offering alternative bills, amendments to Democrat bills or even the guarantee of open debate accessible by motions to recommit for any piece of legislation during the entire 111th Congress. These procedural abuses, as outlined in the below letter obtained by HUMAN EVENTS, would also include the repeal of six-year limit for committee chairmen and other House Rules reform measures enacted in 1995 as part of the Contract with America. After decades of Democrat control of the House of Representatives, gross abuses to the legislative process and several high-profile scandals contributed to an overwhelming Republican House Congressional landslide victory in 1994. Reforms to the House Rules as part of the Contract with America were designed to open up to public scrutiny what had become under this decades-long Democrat majority a dangerously secretive House legislative process. The Republican reform of the way the House did business included opening committee meetings to the public and media, making Congress actually subject to federal law, term limits for committee chairmen ending decades-long committee fiefdoms, truth in budgeting, elimination of the committee proxy vote, authorization of a House audit, specific requirements for blanket rules waivers, and guarantees to the then-Democrat minority party to offer amendments to pieces of legislation. Pelosi's proposed repeal of decades-long House accountability reforms exposes a tyrannical Democrat leadership poised to assemble legislation in secret, then goose-step it through Congress by the elimination of debate and amendment procedures as part of America's governing legislative process. |

Well, I might be more worried, but a republican president got us here, and I didn't see any republican public servants of mine raising an alarm .... so, if Obama gives 'em the finger and goes directly to the people, it would be worth a try ... Pelosi's rule changes -- which may be voted on today -- will reverse the fairness rules that were written around Newt Gingrich's "Contract with America." Personally, I hope Newt-the-newt burns in hell. He is still attempting to have no change and take us though more of the hell we have gone through in the last eight years! How he is going to sell the public that "things have been done right" will be interesting to see ... frankly, I am ready to call the man a liar, crook and jerk! I am not aware of this; I will have to do some research. But, me thinks the republicans have been so quick to cry wolf that not much attention is paid them, anymore ... as far as the bills goes--there needs to be one simple law, the bills are either wholly accepted or wholly rejected ... if just one thing ain't right, go back and rewrite it! These "geniuses" keep telling us they are the best ... krist, I'd suspect my garbage man could have done a lot of damage, however, if you rounded up all the alcoholics, drug addicts, criminals, nuts, etc., I think they could have done a comparable job of creating a mess like this! I am damn ****ed when my politicians are printing IOU's (in the form of dollar bills) which my grandchildren and great grandchildren will be left to pay off! I can't even tell the difference between republican criminals and democratic crooks anymore! When you get down to trying to figure out who did the most damage here, democrats or republicans, it is a flip of the coin! You would be hard pressed to convince me that ANYTHING done over the last 30+ years has improved my life, my families lives, my friends lives, my neighbors lives, etc. Indeed, most of my friends who are around my age are wondering how they are going to replace their retirement funds ... they feel as if they have been robbed ... I will feel better when these republicans and democrats start imprisoning and hanging the criminals--bipartisan-ly! Pelosi's proposed repeal of decades-long House accountability reforms exposes a tyrannical Democrat leadership poised to assemble legislation in secret, then goose-step it through Congress by the elimination of debate and amendment procedures as part of America's governing legislative process. Well, I would certainly hate to see any more secrecy, control by big brother, more cameras by big brother, more thought control laws, more fear, more unsafe streets, more poverty, more lack of health care, more poor performance of our schools, more deterioration of public roads-water-sewer-power-infrastructure, etc. ... everything Obama is saying and doing, at this time, certainly is not along your fears ... however, it is always good to keep watch. After a year, a person should be able to make some sort of rational appraisment(s) of his performance--say around the middle of January 2010 ... Regards, JS |

It will simply be time to ask, "Has the man broke with tradition and is carrying out what is good for Americans? Is his proposals, and efforts in this same direction(s)? If so, IT WILL be time to call for the heads of those attempting to thwart fixes which are attempting to restore quality of life, and a general well being for all Americans ... Regards, JS |
