I think the first TV we had was in 1962. Mind you, not all were as poor as we were, but almost nobody I knew when I was very young had a television. It was still several months' pay to buy one new, and most of the "older" sets were still in use by their original owners because they were a heavy investment. The first color sets were the equivalent to a years pay for many. |
