Some African Vacation Logs
SRTC, Omdurman, Sudan on 7200 at 0400 UTC in Arabic. African tribal
music up to TOH, time pips, then an ID and into nx by deep-voiced man. SIO-444, seemingly stronger every night. ARO QRM not too bad, for a change. (Bryant – KY, Eton E5, June 14) R. Ethiopia, Ethiopia, on 7110 at 0330 UTC in Amharic. YL in lang sounding like a cross between Arabic and African vernacular. Horn of Africa mx. M w/ “E-tea-o-pia” ID at 0345. Only broadcaster heard below 7200 on 40 meters. SIO-343, pretty good. (Bryant – KY, Eton E5, June 14) RNT, N'Djamena, Chad, on 6165 at *0428. Wonder if something’s up in Chad? Supposed to be signing on in French, but just playing a loop of African melody, being played on xylophone-type percussion instrument. SIO-343. (Bryant – KY, Icom R75 & Eton E5, June 14) |
