Around 1977 I was staying with my Grandmother in Hallandale Florida, I
picked up WBZ Boston.I was using a Lafayette Gaurdian 7000, that got
in 1973. That radio is still playing like it did when it was new. I
use it everyday.

My hobby is restoring vintage tube radios. I adore tube radios, I have
1946 Zenith 6D029 playing in the kitchen right now.

I use the Select A Tenna as a way to null the inference from the under
the counter halogen lights.

I mentioned in a previous post that my gave me an all leather and wood
Roberts Revival Radio. Very expensive. I planned to concoct an excuse
to send it back, after I took it out the box, I fell in love with it.
Usually I have no interest in anything repro, this radio picks up
everything! It has a continuously back lighted dial even when its on
batteries.
To me it all the qualities of a vintage radio. It really stands on its
own.My wife got it from Crane. She saw me eyeing it in the catalog.
Its a great DX'ng radio.

Yes, the interference is huge down here in South Florida, not so much
where I am, only one mile from the ocean in a small coastal town.
Yes, those "revival" radios are neat! We got one, with a CD hidden
under a hinged lid, a Crosley, with the old aircraft-style tuning dial,
back lamp, cloth covered grill, etc. When playing 30's or 40's CDs, it
is like a time machine, coming out of the speaker!
Have not tried it yet for "real" radio listening, have too many others!
Wish that I had an old Console Radio that my Grandparents had in the
30's and 40's, and that I still remember being in the living room. My
Grandpa put it out beside the curb one day in the early 60's for the
junk guy! Did the same thing with our 1952 RCA TV, beautiful cabinet,
doors covering the set,etc. Out to the curb when he got a "new" 21"
round tube GE Color TV, again in the early 60's. Breaks my heart now.

The Roberts R250 is made of real leather on wood, its stunning.Great
sound. Some owners don't like the sound.

I'm in the process of restoring my aunts 1941 RCA console. She gave it
to me when I was 15 back in 1970.

All the rotted rubber wires had to be replaced, I'm almost done with
that part of it. My experience has been restoring simple AM table
radios, this is the most complicated one I've done. I hope when I
finally test it, I don't burn the house down.

I'm glad there is a thread on the Roberts. When Crane sent me their
newest catalogue....that was
the radio that caught my eyes.

But it sounds like from CF that it has overload
problems? What type of filtering does that piece
have?

It definitely looks sharp but I don't make a radio
purchase based on just looks.
