Someone posted to another thread a link to Sherwood Engineering's web page
of receiver tests.

This will work GREAT in a car. I'd use a 102" whip for receive-only.

and download the PDF brocure, you'll love the picture on the cover.

BTW, the 706 is the same rig with more coverage and 100 watts out on HF. Since
it is more popular, you may be able to find a used one cheaper if you want to
to that way. Note there were several models of both, so make sure you buy the
one you really want.

Don't mount a radio like that in your car permanently, or se-mi
permanently.
It is like candy to thieves.
