That's just before the cone pops out of the speaker.

I had flames come out of an old Hallicrafters Marine Radio once
following such an event. *Exciting, but not what I was hoping for.

I can empathize. But was it just flames? Or were there other odd
phenomena between the noise and the flames?

You know, the events were almost simultaneous. The radio was working
OK one minute, then the next minute the speaker began to warble, and
very soon the sparks flew and puff of smoke emerged. I am certain
that the two were related, although at the time I had no idea how to
reverse the problem. The latter event did not last long - maybe just
a few seconds. It was a heartbreaking moment.

That radio looked a lot like this one, but a slightly different shape,
more like an Echophone (but it had the Halli label on it).

I Like those old radios that make that kind of noise.I never had one
that blew up the speaker or went up in flames though.

Department of Injustice wants to read everybodys emails, without first
getting a warrant. They (''They'') would find my emails extremely Boring!
I read about that Thames River flood barrier/gates when it was first
being built, I read about it in a Popular Science magazine many years
ago.Last night I emailed that married Irish woman wayyyyyy over yonder
across the big pond, in Bognor Regis,England, about that flood barrier.I
told her why they had to build that flood barrier. It is because the
Southern part of Limeyland is tilting downward while the Northern part
is rising upward. That Thames water is getting deeper every year.

She said as long as she doesn't tilt into the Ocean she doesn't care.
