Mississippi River has flip flopped/changed its course a bunch of times
in the past.William Faulkner once said the Mississippi River can never
be tamed.

I think he was right.

Thousand year floods every hundred years; hundred year floods every 10
years. 1 foot coastal inundation now 10 feet, 10 foot inundation now 100
feet.

Hard to tell if it will be this severe right away, but certainly the
extremes - both high and low - will obviously ramp up noticeably. The
West is getting one of it's heaviest, longest-lasting winters ever,
after two years of considerable dought and a very heavy, long-lasting
winter three years back - preceded by a decade of drought. Feast or
famine - get used to it.
